CHPP Conveyor Capacity Audit

Vale Carborough Downs Coal Mine (CDCM) required details of the current and possible future capacities of their Module 1 and 2 product conveyors at their coal processing plant in Central Queensland.  As a result, Orana Engineering was engaged by the CDCM site engineering and maintenance team to perform the necessary site visits, calculations and reporting.  The study consisted of 8 plant conveyors and outlined high level recommendations of modifications required for the plant to achieve higher tonnages.

Orana Engineering completed an initial site visit to liaise with site personnel and gather the necessary information for review of each of the conveyors.  Engineering checks were completed to identify various ‘bottle-necks’ in the conveyor design parameters such as motor power, drive equipment, belt curves, GTU mass, belt speed, belt capacity, belt tensions and electrical supply.  Orana Engineering issued a detailed report at completion of the study summarising the calculations completed and providing concept level equipment modification recommendations for tonnage ranges advised by CDCM.

Orana Engineering worked closely with the site engineering and maintenance team to complete the project deliverables on time and on budget.  Our past experience with brownfield projects ensured that recommendations were practical and took into consideration other plant and equipment, operating and maintenance processes, past and present performance issues, information from site crews etc.

If you would like any more information or details about Orana Engineering’s engineering services, please do not hesitate to contact us or review our capabilities.
